FARES, PASSES & TRAVEL TIPS
FROM HERE TO THERE
Daytime SMTD fixed-route buses operate in the Springfield area from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday-Saturday. Regular routes start from and return to the downtown area. Note: Some routes may not operate on Saturday. There is a route to Southwind Park that operates on Saturday only.

Five nighttime routes operate Monday through Friday. The first bus leaves the transfer center on Washington Street between 5th and 6th at 6:45 p.m. The last bus leaves at 11:45 p.m and travels until the last passenger is off. See the schedule or call 522-5531 for route information.
The main bus schedule includes timetables for all regular and suplemental routes. Routes are color-coded on a map of Springfield. Schedules are available at many businesses, the Chamber of Commerce, the Municipal Building, and on the buses. Individual routes also may be viewed and printed from the "Routes and Schedules" page.
TRANSFERS
When your destination cannot be reached by traveling one bus route, ask the driver for a transfer when you pay the fare. Transfers are free and are good for the next scheduled bus wherever bus routes meet.
TRAVEL TIPS
Arrive at the bus stop a few minutes early.
Have your pass or exact cash fare ready.
Wait for the bus near the street corner, passenger shelter, or bus stop sign. DO NOT wait in the middle of the block.
Buses do not run on these holidays:

  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
