| People who wish to use the ACCESS SPRINGFIELD bus service need to apply to the SMTD to determine ADA eligibility. |
| The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a federal law which sets guidelines for providing comparable paratransit service for people with disabilities who cannot ride the mainline transit service. People who qualify for paratransit service under this law are considered ADA eligible. ADA eligibility guarantees priority service. |
| Passengers should call the Springfield Mass Transit District to request an application. For an application, or more information on eligibility criteria, call (217) 522-6087 |
| To reserve a ride, call 522-8594 |
| A ride can be scheduled up to 14 days in advance. Reservations are taken between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. Requests may be left on the answering machine on Sundays and holidays. Please tell them: |
- where you want to be picked up.
- where you are going.
- when you have to be there.
- your ADA eligibility number.
- if you will need a return trip.
|
(When reserving a ride, avoid "peak times," if you can; these times are 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, on week days.)
|
| RIDING RESPONSIBLY |
- Schedule your trips as far in advance as possible.
- Please be ready at, or before, your pick-up time.
