TRANSIT INFORMATION
SMTD and Access Springfield days of operation - 6:00 a.m. to approximately Midnight Monday through Friday and 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
No service is available on the following holidays; New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas nor after 6:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
RIDING TIPS FOR SMTD BUSES
  • Arrive at the bus stop a few minutes early.
  • Wait for the bus near the passenger shelter or designated bus stop.
  • Buses with wheelchair logos are lift equipped for the convenience of persons not able to use the steps. (Request the driver to deploy the lift for you if the driver is not familiar with you).
  • Most buses have a kneeling feature that lowers the step distance from the ground level. You should request this if you want the kneeling feature.
  • You may request a driver to inform you of your destination stop.
  • You may request a driver to assist you in getting your seating space and with securement devices.
  • Have your fare or pass ready for driver.
RIDING TIPS FOR ACCESS SPRINGFIELD VEHICLES
  • Be ready for Access Springfield five (5) minutes prior to scheduled pick up time. When vehicle arrives you should promptly get to the van
  • You should notify the driver if you need assistance getting to the vehicle or in the boarding.
  • You should inform the driver if you desire assistance with securement devices.
  • Have your fare or pass ready for driver.
RESERVATIONS FOR ACCESS SPRINGFIELD SERVICE 522-8594
  • Reservations may be made up to 14 days in advance.
  • ADA eligible persons can schedule a trip anytime between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. the preceding day of the requested trip.
  • Access Springfield is allowed to negotiate a specific trip time request up to one hour before and/or after your requested time for ADA-eligible persons/ ADA-ineligible persons will receive requested services as close to requested time as space permits.
  • If you are traveling with companions, you need to inform the dispatcher of the number of perons accompanying you. Access Springfield will attempt to provide service for more than one companion as space permits. Companions are charged the same fare as the Access Springfield rider. Companion is defined as a person traveling with the eligible rider going to the same destination and who is not serving as a personal assistant.
TRIP CANCELLATION - ACCESS SPRINGFIELD
  • Access Springfield vehicles will wait five (5) minutes past the designated pick up time. If you do not show, the vehicle will leave and you will be required to call for another trip request.
  • Access Springfield will attempt to contact you if service is running ahead or behind schedule, allowing you appropriate time to be ready.
  • If you consistently do not show for designated trips, you may be suspended for a reasonable period of time from Access Springfield service. If you cannot make the trip, you should notify Access Springfiled in advance to allow cancellation of your trip.
